Back 40 years ago, wall to wall carpet was all the rage. Ranch style homes, and split levels, with luxurious wall to wall shag carpet, in harvest gold and pea green. Oh dear. The came Saltillo tiles and that awful white tile with the dark gray grout. I am ever so happy to see some flooring trends go by the wayside. And equally as pleased when a customer is able to see past the trends and choose something a bit more timeless for their floors.
For a while, everybody ripped out all the carpet. Carpets in your home were a thing of the past. Lately, however, some people are returning to carpet as their first choice for living rooms, bedrooms and home offices. Why? Because carpet feels soft and cushy under your feet. If it’s the right color and style, it can enhance the overall look and feel of a home, and some people just like it better.
Because the carpet manufacturers are smart, they are beginning to rethink how they introduce new products to the market. For example, there are certain carpet products which are “engineered with solution=dyed Pure Color fiber. It has a number of treatments and formulations which I won’t try to explain here, but suffice it to say these new types of carpet are much more pet-friendly than anything you have seen before.
There are also carpets which are much better for those who suffer from allergies. These carpets are specifically designed to reduce the amount of dust and allergens they release into the air.
Some of these carpets also offer fiber strands which hold up longer over time and they also feature Scotchgard Protector as options. This will greatly reduce the staining from the children’s juice dropping!
There is even a new category of carpet which feels like silk. So, before you decide to put tile throughout your home, come in and look at the different options we have in carpet. You just might change your mind. A soft silky, plush carpet might be just the thing you want to feel underfoot when you get out of bed in the morning. Think about it..
